I have extensive business management experience over many years as a senior sales & marketing and business strategy executive.  I have managed business strategy and marketing & sales teams and successfully built high profile market leading businesses.

I have been involved in all aspects of strategic business development, building relationships with customers and suppliers, as well as establishing and maintaining differentiated branded leadership positions in target markets, in Australia and overseas.

Non-Executive Directorships
I have served on the Board of a number of organisations, serving in part-time roles such as Chairman, Executive Director, Company Secretary and Chair of Board committees including Executive Management, Marketing, Remuneration & Appointments, Sustainability and Membership.

I also have been CEO/Company Secretary and set up or transformed industry associations.  I have experience in lobbying Government and the private sector, in terms of defending and presenting corporate and industry polices. 

I have many years experience of dealing with corporate governance and organisational strategic issues at Board level, and I have done the AICD Company Director's Course.

Intellectual Property Consulting
I have used Intellectual Property as a market differentiator and innovation driver in a number of businesses and organisations, and have many years experience in strategic licensing of Australian and international intellectual property.

Industry Association Support
I was the founding Company Secretary & Executive Director of the Steel Reinforcement Institute of Australia (SRIA), served as President & Chairman for five years, and have been Chair of the Executive Management Committee, Chair of the Remuneration & Appointments Committee and Chair of the Sustainability Committee.

I serve on the Board of the Australasian Certification Authority for Reinforcing & Structural Steels (ACRS) and Board sub-committees: Executive, Strategy & Risk, Personnel Remuneration & Appointments, and Marketing & Promotion  I was one of the key drivers in setting up ACRS to operate third party certification schemes for reinforcing and structural steel building products.

I have been the Company Secretary & Executive Director (part-time) of the Bureau of Steel Manufacturers of Australia (BOSMA) for many years. I was a founding Director of the Building Products Innovation Council.  My significant industry association experience enables me to assist many types of organisations in improving their effectiveness.

From 2013 to 2015 I was the Secretary of the Manufacturing & Engineering Institute of Australia (MEIA), an industry organisation which represents to public and private sectors the interests of the small to medium size metals manufacturing and engineering sector, together with the development of TAFE and the manufacturing skills and trades training. 


Branding & Business Positioning
Leading the strategic development of a business, realising the vision, and successfully taking it in several stages to profit and industry leadership, has been a career highlight.

I have successfully built high profile branding and market leading businesses in a number of local and overseas markets, including developing differentiated positioning for multi-brand competing products and businesses.

Additionally I have recent experience in leading businesses into sustainability and social media platforms for a growing range of solutions and value propositions.

Market & Competitive Analysis
I have worked in a number of different industries in Europe and Australia including steel and concrete, building products, consumer goods, hardware, clothing, furniture, chemicals and electronics.

I have international business management experience and knowledge of business operating environments in Australia and in international markets with relationships with senior business executives in a number of Asian and European countries.  

Analysing the key requirements and opportunities for an organisation to better understand their competitive space and improve their competitive performance is part of the value I can offer.

Sales & Marketing Auditing
Operating successful businesses with many locations across regional and metropolitan Australia in all states and territories has given me a real appreciation of the differing requirements of various areas of Australia, and the drivers of success in sales and marketing activities.

I also have experience in a number of industry sectors and countries overseas.  Auditing organisations in terms of the strengths and weaknesses of their sales & marketing capabilities is a skillset I can bring.

I have considerable experience in the development of effective sales and marketing resources, in skillset enhancement and monitoring metrics.

I have worked with world leading consultants in this area and can develop strategic and in field plans to develop selling, coaching and service capabilities for organisations.
